1. Do I need to be a member of Indy Runners to be part of Indy Racers?

Yes.

2. How many races must I finish to earn my jersey?

3

3. Which races count toward my jersey?

The races on the Indy Racers calendar are the only races that count toward earning your jersey.

4. Why don’t the OrthoIndy 500 Festival Miler Series races count?

Indy Racers is for people who love to race. While the training series is a great tune-up for the mini, you should be racing more than just leading up to the Mini to earn your jersey.

5. Can I run any of the distances at a race on the Indy Racers calendar to earn my jersey?

Yes.

6. How do I get my jersey?

Let Team Captain Dan Hay know by email that you are interested in joining Indy Racers.  Please include the races you have completed and your jersey size.  Also include whether you will be at a Tuesday run at Hinkle Fieldhouse or a Saturday run from the deck on Broad Ripple where he can deliver the jersey.  If you can’t attend club runs, please include your address.

7. Why does it take so long to get my jersey?

Sometimes we don’t have your size in stock and need to wait to order more jerseys. Sometimes it takes Dan a while to get to the post office. The Indy Racers program (like all of Indy Runners) is volunteer-run. Please be patient. :)

8. How are the jerseys free?

They are provided by club sponsors. The sponsors change from time to time, hence the changes in style of jersey.

9. Why don’t you have my size in stock?

It is difficult to guess in advance what size people will earn their jerseys. Sometimes we need more of a specific size than we asked a sponsor to provide.

10. If I qualify for Indy Racers every year, do I get a new jersey every year?

No. We cannot ask our sponsors to provide such a large number of jerseys. However, if you change sizes significantly, let Team Captain Dan Hay know, and he will see if he can get you a new jersey to match your new size.

11. What is the points challenge?

The points challenge is a fun way for Racers to log their race miles (Indy Racers events and other events) and compete for prizes at the Indy Runners End of Year event. There are awards for distance and speed.

12. Why isn’t the tent at every Indy Racers event?

Sometimes the race director doesn’t let us know where we can set up. Sometimes it is too windy to set up. Sometimes we can’t drive the tent close enough to practically get it to the start or finish area. We try to post where it will be (or if it won’t be there) on Facebook before the race.

13. Do I need to be fast to be an Indy Racer?

What is fast – who knows? What is slow – who cares? Indy Racers is for people of ALL abilities who love to race.

14. Why aren’t races like the Indianapolis Women’s Half Marathon on the Indy Racers calendar?

It isn’t fair to exclude roughly half of the Indy Racers team members from an event (and points), so they aren’t official events. But have fun participating, and there will be other Indy Racers there.

15. Does Team Captain Dan Hay keep track of my races for me for the points challenge?

We've developed some software to try and automate (as much as possible) collecting our members' results at club races. You dont currently need to track your own race results. The latest results are available for download on the Indy Racers web page.

16. I didn’t finish a race. Do the miles I ran still count for the points challenge?

No. There is no way to confirm the miles you ran, and the points challenge could come down to less than a mile. We need results that are available.
