2008 Indy Runners Fall Marathon and Half Marathon Training Program

The week 19 group run scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 8:00am at the wooden deck near Broadripple Steak House and the 4 mile marker on the Monon Trail in Broadripple has been canceled due to the number of members involved with the Indianapolis Marathon (running, volunteering, etc.). You are still welcome to show up and run on your own, although there will be no water stop support.
Due to a later sunrise and restrictions of use on the Monon Trail from dusk to dawn, we will MOVE our Saturday training runs to 8AM during the month of OCTOBER (10/4, 10/11, and 10/25).
Indy Runners is excited to announce the 3rd annual Fall Marathon and Half-Marathon Group Training Program! This program is FREE to paid club members. The 2008 Silver Membership fee is just $15 for an individual and $20 for a family membership. Note: The more expensive Gold Membership includes paid participation in our Spring Mini Training Program. It is not necessary for this Fall training program. (You can renew online or download and print-out a membership form. See the Indy Runners Membership page for more membership information.)
Over 100 runners participated in these Saturday training runs over the last 2 years, and we anticipate greater numbers in 2008!
The program is very informal allowing runners and walkers to meet others with the same goal but still providing you training for the October/November marathons and half-marathons. Water/Sports Drink stops will be stationed along the route each week! In addition, we will provide water, sports drink, and snacks at the end of each run.
The program begins on Saturday, June 14th @ 7:30am on the Monon Trail. Full marathoners will run 6 miles and half marathoners will run 3 miles. We will meet each Saturday morning on the wooden deck at the corner of E. Westfield Blvd and Winthrop Ave. in Broad Ripple (next to the former location of NetHeads at the 4 mile Monon Trail marker) for the weekly long run. Look for the bright blue Indy Runners tent on the deck.

Weekly Saturday runs will be by mileage with no pacers. In the past two years, we have had participants with a variety of paces and experience levels. We are happy to provide advice and help you meet your goal! You are invited to attend other weekly club runs (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) if you would like to run with others beyond the weekly long run.
The program will finish in October leading participants to compete in October/November marathons and half marathons.
We are always looking for volunteers with Indy Runners! If you're not planning to join us for these runs on Saturday mornings, please consider helping with a Saturday morning water stop! Volunteers are awarded $5 gift cards from one of our sponsors for their participation!!
