Mission

Indy Runners and Walkers and Butler University are proud to have deepened our partnership by enhancing our overlapping missions to promote fitness and wellness in our community, as well as give back to Butler students/faculty/alumni, Indy Runners and Walkers members, and our city through wellness initiatives and community projects.

2024 Butler Points Challenge Results:

  1. Project 44 (17 points)
  2. Butler Run Club (11 points)
  3. Lambda Chi Alpha / Alpha Phi Omega (6 points each)

Explainer: we’re pleased to support the Butler Campus Groups with the largest participant and volunteer contingent with donations of $150-$100-$50 to their philanthropic endeavors.

We’re pleased to donate to the charitable causes of our top 3 Butler groups this year!

We had our biggest year yet for the Bulldog Jog in 2024 – up to 711 participants and roughly $9000 raised for our beneficiaries (Butler HRC student wellness programs, Indy Runners giving back initiatives, and the Indy Humane Society).

Moving now to our 6th year of Partnership (and 33rd overall for the Bulldog Jog), we’re excited for another fun day on campus

And we’ll have Butler Blue, Butler Cheer and Hink, and the Butler Pep Band out once again to support you and our Dawg Walk.

We have been blessed to have a good amount of additional Donations to bolster our charitable giving.  This year we will be splitting the Donations between our three beneficiaries – Butler HRC student programs, Indy Runners giving back initiatives, and the Indy Humane Society.

Our 5k continues to be a nice tour through our lovely Campus with a flat, fast course for racing hard if you like, or a great family event for kids as well.

We will continue to have our Virtual Option for Butler Alumni (or other Butler lovers, or Indy Runners members, or Dawg lovers for that matter) scattered across the country to be able to participate and support the cause, or for anyone Local who would like to still support our Beneficiaries, but might not be available on race day itself.  We will still have race shirts for all of our Virtual participants as well (we’ll mail them to you).

Dog Note: We’ve had some inquiries about running with your Dog in the races.  We can allow folks to run the 5k with their dog if you like – but please be careful of other runner’s legs around you.  But PLEASE NO DOGS IN THE 10k THROUGH NEWFIELDS.  Thanks for your understanding.

Stroller Note: Our 5k route is wide enough to be family friendly both for dogs and for strollers for the younger kids, but we need to limit strollers to the 5k only as the canal towpath gets a bit tight.  Thanks for understanding.

Beneficiaries

The proceeds will benefit Butler HRC student wellness and grant programs as well as Indy Runners giving back initiatives including our scholarship program and various community projects.

The 1-mile Dawg Walk through campus will also benefit the Indianapolis Humane Society.

Optional Medal

Continuing This Year – we are pleased to offer the option of a medal for participants in the 5k or 10k. This will be an add-on to your registration fee, and medals will be available at the scoring tent for those who order them in advance.

Volunteers

As always, we rely on our club members, friends, families, and community organization to volunteer to help put on our events. We have plenty of options from on course sentries, to water stops, to finish line, to packet pick up distribution, etc. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/Volunteer/IN/Indianapolis/BulldogJog. You can also email Brian Schuetter at medical@indyrunners.org with any questions.

Special thanks to Scott Peden with Butler HRC and the Butler Run Club for all of their assistance in partnering to put on such great racing on campus. See you in April 2025!
