Mission: Indy Runners and Walkers and Butler University are partnering to combine and enhance our overlapping missions to promote fitness and wellness in our community, as well as give back to Butler students/faculty/alumni, Indy Runners members, and our city through wellness initiatives and community projects.
We are refreshing the 27-year history of Butler’s Bulldog Jog and combining it with a new race distance (10-miler) to create a fun spring event that embraces both the joy and journey of running, walking and fitness, with support for Butler and Indy Runners giving back initiatives. We have a large contingent of Butler students, faculty/staff, and alumni competing for points, an ultimate Butler Championship, and bragging rights.
For Butler students, we will use the same groupings of fraternities, sororities, and dorms as Homecoming to form Teams. Alumni and faculty/staff will also compete as a team. Teams earn points for each runner and each volunteer, with top scoring teams winning Butler prizes.
Plus, Butler alumni will use the age graded multiplier to compete for top 5 places (men and women) for Butler prizes and bragging rights.
Beneficiaries: The proceeds will benefit Butler HRC student wellness and grant programs as well as Indy Runners giving back initiatives including our scholarship program and various community projects.
