Back Again For 2024!

We had a great time last year with our newest version of the Groundhog!  The rail trail expansion and addition of Phil’s Hill certainly brought a nice bit of camaraderie.  And we were able to raise roughly $3600 for the Zionsville Food Pantry.  We’ll add a “Virtual Groundhog” for those who would like to support the cause, but can’t make it on race day.

Special thanks to Zionsville Community High School for being our long time host and the food pantry as our beneficiary.  We’ll still be collecting monetary donations to support the food pantry this year, in lieu of actual food donations (per their request).

Thanks again for all the great support over the years.  We’re looking forward to another fun day of racing and giving back.

New This Year!

We are excited to have Greek’s Pizzeria on board for pizza at the finish and gift cards for our winners (overall and masters). Special thanks to Mike Cole and Greek’s for supporting the Groundhog!

Day-of registration opens at 11:30 a.m. and will be held inside the high school.

Course Details:

The race will begin at Zionsville High School and continue along the scenic Zionsville Rail Trail. Runners and walkers will pass through several Zionsville neighborhoods and finish back at the high school. There will be one water stop. However, there are no restrooms on the course, so please plan accordingly.

Course Maps:

Like most things in our world recently, we’re having to adjust a bit due to construction – on the Zionsville Rail Trail this time.  So we’ll be exploring further south on the expanded section down past Starkey Park and back. There will be a single distance this year of about 5.25 miles. (Here’s the map.)

Volunteers:

We could use a few volunteers to fill a few key roles to help us put on the Groundhog.  Course marshals/sentries, aid station volunteers, plus pre-race packet pick up (which allows you to also run/walk the race if you would like to both help and race).

Register to Voluteer

Run Appropriate to the Conditions:

Note that the weather and road conditions are frequently poor (snow, some ice) this time of year; however, the race WILL be held on this date if at all possible. We do our best to clear the course to make it safe.
